Be Careful What You Write!

Have you read about it yet?

This person wrote about an incident in the MRT he witnessed, and he was arrested by the police for offensive comments against a race. You can read about it in TNP Online:

The guy claimed that he was shocked that strangers read his blog & that he only blogs for friends. He also usually writes over-the-top to give his entries more punch.

I think it's naive to think that only friends read our blogs, right? I mean, blogs are on the world wide web and is free for public reading. Even for blogs with restricted access & viewing can also be read by the web administrators and those with admin rights.

Furthermore, the topic he wrote about was against a particular race, with rude comments targeted at them. Frankly speaking, racial harmony is one of the things we pride in for our country. We are so diverse but yet we live together in a small country peacefully. Different religions exist and we respect each other's beliefs. This is certainly something I thank God for. Putting aside the fact that the comments were written on a public domain, even the things written were inappropriate simply because of it's got something to do with races. It is undoubtedly a sensitive issue.

I think it's very important to maintain respect for people of other races, nationality and religion. Mutual respect can go a long way in building strong relationships that will make us a strong and united nation.

Does this sound like some racial harmony propaganda? Hahaha... :)

yea i agree it's not really 'safe' blogging about our own personal stuff even when we make it 'private'... it depends on how comfortable one feels too la... for blogspot, now they have this function to restrict readers too so only the people you invite (and the admin support staff) can read. But i think they can only do it for blog overall and not for specific entries.
