Our Road Trip – The Scenery Episode
The Kuan Family made a road trip to Kota Tinggi Waterfall today, and we had loads of fun! Dead-beat but happy!
I took many lovely photos of Mr Kuan and Missy Kuan, but will blog it over at my girls’ blog. On this side, I’ll only be showing the scenery photos. How relaxing to see lots of greens and rushing cold waters!
It was raining when we set off from home around 10-ish in the morning, and it was raining all the way in Malaysia until we neared Kota Tinggi! Thank God the rain cleared after that!
Many parts of Malaysia are still pretty backward and undeveloped, so it is not strange to see lots of plantations on both sides of the road, wooden houses and wells even.
Kota Tinggi is about 90 minutes’ drive from Singapore, and is a rather small town. Still quite rural and village-like.
It’s easy to get to Kota Tinggi by road. There are clear road signs every step of the way. From the Customs, just keep following the road signs that show ‘Kota Tinggi’ every kilometre or so. Upon reaching the town of Kota Tinggi, watch out for the road sign that says ‘Air Terjun’ which means Waterfall in Malay.
Driving from the main town area of Kota Tinggi, the scenery slowly becomes foresty and very natural. Trees everywhere, and the air was just so fresh and cooling that we decided to switch off the air-con and wind down our windows for some fresh countryside air. =)
The Kota Tinggi Waterfall used to be just part of the nature and is a free-for-all-to-visit place. That was a few years back when I visited the place. Now, they’ve done some development to the whole place, and turned it into a water park of some sort. BUT, don’t expect a sophisticated-looking water park like our Escape Theme Park. The whole place is really very simple and still pretty rural-looking. There are chalets for guests to stay overnight as well. Entrance fees are at RM10 for adults and RM5 for kids 3 years old & above.

Check out the slides. There are only 2 long slides like this in the entire park.
There is a wide blue platform slide as well. Big blue floats can be rented so that they can slide down the tunnel slides.

The water at Kota Tinggi Waterfall is really C-O-L-D!!! It’s spring water from the mountains, so naturally it’s very cool and refreshing. I quite like the place. Pretty rejuvenating to take a dip in the waters! Completely wakes you up from any tiredness or fatigue, I bet! If you are planning to visit this water park, don’t expect a magnificent fanfare though. It’s just a very, very small park built around the main attraction which is the waterfall. There are small Malay stalls set up on the side selling food such as fried chicken, Ramly burgers, rojak, steamed corn, etc. You can also purchase t-shirts printed with the words ‘Water Park’, and other water play equipment.
