Insecurity...

I am so blessed by Bro Sy Roger's sharing this morning. He is really an expert in the area of sexuality and I know it's not been an easy journey for him. Having been through a whole series of abuse, gay sex and perverted relationships, he has finally come through and is now a mighty servant of God and a powerful teacher in this area.

Insecurity is the central of many sexual struggles. Wow. It's such a powerful statement. And when I look at cases around me, I am even more convinced this is true. It is not true if we say that people who come from single-parent or broken families tend to fall into sexual sins easier than the rest. It is not fair to make that kind of statement too. The fact of the matter is that people with such background have a greater tendency and vulnerability to such dangers because they are insecure on the inside of them. And it is only normal for human beings to want to feed on love and relationships to get the acceptance and love they never had. Afterall, many people believe that bad love is better than no love.

And i feel that everyone, to a certain extent, are weak in this area. Because generally we are all people who crave for love and attention, and more often than not, we are willing to sacrifice or do things outside of usual boundaries just to get that kind of satisfaction. But what drives us to do that or think that way? It is still insecurity.

......... from Egypt to The Promised Land

Everyone of us need to go through the journey of Egypt to The Promised Land. Egypt represented a place of slavery, where we were all enslaved to unclean desires and thoughts and behaviors that were not pleasing to God. There were also corrupted relationships which were unhealthy and alot of dissatisfaction in our lives because we have yet to find that true source of joy from God.

The destination is of course the Promised Land, where there are great abundance and fruitfulness. Everything bad in Egypt is replaced by the wonderful things and providence in the Promised Land. Note: Egypt has never been the intended place that God has placed us in. It is merely an inevitable stepping stone for us to reach that Promised Land of milk & honey.

To get to the Promised Land however, we need to pass through the wilderness. In the wilderness, we go through trials, testings and purification. Different people take different amounts of time in the wilderness. It is in the wilderness that we learn to trust the Lord because while not everything in life can be perfect, we start to see that no matter what happens, God is a God who never fails to provide.

Someone asked: If I am kept in the wilderness for too long a time, does it mean I am shortchanged and therefore reach my destiny much later than others?

Of course not! The wilderness is a time that is not easy to go through. Yet, nothing is ever wasted in God's timing! 10 years may seem long to us, but in the eyes of eternity and in the eyes of God, it is next to nothing. We may take a longer time than others to reach a certain destination, but that does not mean we are any lousier. By the time we reach our Promised Land, we will be so strong, because I strongly believe God uses that time & multiplies it so that it becomes an advantage instead of the opposite.

It is wonderful to know that God is a God who knows us through and through.
