This broken-down world..

I am sorry this blog entry took so long to come. I promised Lynn I'll blog about the second session of Sy Rogers' training, but have been so busy everyday of the week.. Hee.. anyway, here goes...

The session was as expected, phenomenal. Bro Sy didn't really teach alot during the second session, but took time to answer many of the audiences' queries & concerns. But he did touch on some important issues and mentioned things that I'm sure many of us already knew, but just didn't think too much about them.

The bible tells us that the spies (except Joshua & Caleb) sent into the Promised Land were scared of the Giants in the Land. Who are the Giants in the Land in our lives today? It is important to know who they are, because they hinder us from progressing in our lives and growing in our walk with God.

Many people dare not move forward because they are fearful. Afraid that they will suffer. The future is always unknown and we never really know whether making the decision to go forward is a right one or a regrettable one. Because the present is comfortable and safe. But if we stay fearful all our lives, how much will we miss out? I cannot even imagine.

Stepping forward requires us to trust in the Lord’s character. When I am afraid, I will trust in Him.

Notice, it’s ‘when I am afraid’, and not ‘if I am afraid’. I guess God knows us too well. : )

Anger will also stop us from moving forward. Angry people cannot make the right judgment. I have come to realized in my 27 years of humanity that whenever I am angry, I am capable of thinking, saying and feeling the most horrible things, otherwise unthinkable when I am not angry. That is why God does not want us to deal with angry situations ourselves. Leave it to Him to settle it.

How difficult can this be, right??? I think so too. But if anything is easy, this wouldn’t be a broken-down world, and our rewards would not be great.

Idolatry, naturally, is another hindrance that stops us from moving forward. If you are thinking along the lines of worshipping idols from other religions, I am not talking about that. This more subtle form of idolatry is the clinging on to others for love & acceptance instead of turning to God, who is the never-ending source.

Clinging on to people for love & acceptance is so very natural. Yet, overdependence becomes a problem. And it is often in this area that many people fall into sexual sins because when inwardly we cannot be satisfied with love and acceptance, we try to seek for a replacement outwardly.

Bro Sy shared that the very thing that attracted him to his wife is that his wife is very assured about who she is in God and that she does not depend on him to satisfy her every need. Even without Bro Sy, she is confident and assured in herself because her every assurance is in God and not in man. Wow.. I also want to be a woman like that.

Generally women tend to see her husband or boyfriend as the source of love & acceptance and this is rightly so because the man is supposed to be the covering for her, as designed by God. But I do not want to be overly dependent on my husband and forget that my real source of joy is God Himself.

The last form of hindrance is rebellion. The bible tells us that rebellion is like witchcraft. Why is that so, you may ask. Because both rebellion and witchcraft sends out the same message – that we can get what we want independent of God.

I hope by now, you haven’t fallen asleep. Hahaha…

Bro Sy also brought out a very valid point. Why is pornography wrong? Is it written anywhere in the bible explicitly except that we should strive to keep our thoughts pure and clean?

Pornography is wrong simply because it perverts us in our thinking.
And a perverted mind is capable of many evil plots.

So, that wraps up what I learnt from the second session of Sy Rogers training. Sigh.. I missed the finale third session because I had to rush work back in office. Nevertheless, I must say I had been so enlightened by what Bro Sy shared about the issues of sexuality. From the many questions asked by the audience, I am certain that everyone of us have many questions in our minds, and everywhere around us, we are surrounded by such issues and people.

This is, afterall, a broken-down world.

Dear sis kless,

Thanks for sharing this here.

I felt very very blessed too.
"Is it written anywhere in the bible explicitly except that we should strive to keep our thoughts pure and clean?"

I'm sure you've read these verses before, but just for everybody to read:

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Matthew 5:28
But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
