It is Time to Think For the Kingdom
As I was praying and asking God for a vision for my personal life and for my CG for Year 2006, I felt God impress upon my heart that this year is going to be the year where everyone of us will move up one level in maturity and understanding pertaining to the matters in the kingdom of God.
We used to be people, and still are, I believe, who placed more emphasis & focus on our own matters, feelings and emotions. Many a times, what's happening to us as a person overrides the important issues in the kingdom of God. There is nothing wrong with being concerned with our well being and asking God to come through for us in times of difficulties, but I felt in my spirit that this year, we are going to move beyond that into something more macro.
Undoubtedly, we are still going to face problems big & small in our life. Yet, we need to have a change in our mindset that God's matters are more important that our own. It is not easy to think that way of course, since we are all creatures with a streak of selfishness. Even though we devout time & energy into the things that are important to God, most of the time, we are really more bogged down by personal issues, struggles and problems.
God gave me a revelation of what is FIRST. If you notice, order and priorities are very important to God. There are many parts in the bible where God gave specific instructions pertaining to the order that things should happen and which should come first, which second and so on. In the eyes of God, there is no such thing as coincidences. In all things, God has a specific order.
“For because you did not do it the first time, the Lord our God broke out against us, because we did not consult Him about the proper order.” 1 Chr 15:13
See how important it was to God - a proper order?
"“Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: 'I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God.” Isaiah 44:6
God reminded us time & again in the bible that He is to be first in our lives. First meaning that we put everything else second to Him and He is the Only One worthy of our concern. Yet, it does not mean that God is not concerned about our own personal problems. There is this familiar verse we all know so well:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matt 6:33
The principle is that when we put the kingdom of God first in our lives, everything else in our lives will be taken care of by God Himself. Isn't this much better than puny little ourselves trying to do it instead??
If we get the order right, our life will fall into place nicely. Simply because we followed this principle that God has laid down.
I believe this is the Word God has placed in my heart for my personal life & for my cell group as well. It is really time to stop focusing on our own problems. Because at the end of the day, if we waste all our energy on neverending problems, we will never be effective warriors of God. We would have no energy left to take care of God's business and do what He wants us to do for Him.
Let this year be a year where we come to a point of maturity that we can recognise that we can trust in God to take care of us in every aspect of our lives. What He is asking from us is simple. Just do the will of God. Leave everything else to God.
