A Spirit of Influence

Oh man, it's been a tiring week for me. So tired that I can't find the strength & energy to blog during the week. Thank God it's finally Sunday and time to take a short rest before the new week will begin again.

Had a long day today because after the usual sunday service, there was a combined prayer meeting. The presence of God was great. It's always great when Pst Kong leads the prayer meeting himself. The time just seemed to fly by so quickly during the praying. Like what Reagan said to me today, we truly can sense that a major breakthrough is coming in our church. And it's really exciting to know that God never stops moving mightily among us.

After the prayer meeting, we headed down to Pst Lillian's house because we prepared a surprise birthday party for Bro Nic. Not just us leaders from Pst Lillian's zone, but also the advisors from his company, his cell group members, ex cell group members and team leaders in Pst Derek's zone. So you can imagine there's a whole ging gang of us all excited to give him a big surprise in the function room.

The whole surprise thing went very well of course. I believe Bro Nic was very happy tonight. Seeing so many people making the effort to celebrate for him, I felt that Bro Nic was really a great man of God. It is not easy to be able to gather so many people to make his birthday special for him. The truth is he had first impacted so many people's lives for them to be willing to make that kind of sacrifice.

Influence is so important. We can all be people who are top notch in our careers, or doing so well in the things we are doing, yet at the end of the day, it is our relationships that will last forever. That is why if we are able to impact & influence the lives of people around us, we will be able to do greater things in this kingdom.

A spirit of influence draws people & attracts comrades. People who are willing to fight alongside with you.

Right now, our church is really into soul winning and getting members to be ready to meet the needs of their friends so that they can preach the gospel when the hearts are ready. I believe the key ingredient to effective soul winning is really a spirit of influence. If we are able to come up to a level where we have won the respect & friendship of our close friends and family members, we will be able to influence them to make the decision to receive Christ into their hearts. A spirit of influence is persuasive in a subtle way. It makes people want to follow you even when they don't consciously know that they are doing so. And I believe when we have a spirit of influence, soul winning will be so much easier.

Oh God, give me a spirit of influence!
