Back to the Boring Basics

Had a wonderful time with my core helpers last night. We met together to praise & worship, pray and Isaiah shared a message. God is good. He gave & confirmed a Word about having faith and just asking from Him what we desire in our hearts. So we clung on to His Word and asked for tremendous growth & multiplication to come into our cell group.

Growth had been slow in the past few months. It was a difficult season for our CG and we were pushing for everyone to bring friends but it was just not forthcoming. So Isaiah decided that every member in the cell group should fast and pray every Wed and the helpers should fast one additional day in a week.

It's back to the boring basics.

Sometimes we may think of creative ways of reaching out or inviting friends. They are all good. But at the end of the day, it's the boring basics that will bring in the harvest. God is a great God. Indeed, as we fasted and prayed as a cell group, coupled with diligence in following up and meeting the needs of the friends, we saw God's Hand moving the cell group along.

In this month alone, we rebounded from a negative 40-over % to a growth of positive 16% in our service attendance! Not only did we rebound, we scored a great victory. We are still working on our cell group attendance now. Even though we have yet to hit our target, we did improve by over 19% this month. Both Isaiah and I were wowed by what God has done in our midst. Friends just kept coming in. And they're all good friends who will stay on and be planted in the House of God.

Simply because we got back to the basics of asking God for it in prayers & fasting.

Another main reason is because we have good helpers in the cell group who always went the extra mile to meet up with the friends, call them up to pray for them and always taking initiative to meet their every need. Caring for & loving souls - that's the basics as well.

Indeed, as we pray with faith in our hearts for the kingdom of God to come, God will really do a great work among us. We will continue to pray for the harvest to come in in a mighty wave! Thank you Jesus for all that You have done!

yeah very true.. many a times it's the "boring" basics that get us back in track.. and bring out the best in tough times..

i use to lead a group .. really tough going.. at times it seems like i'd ask God how low can things really get.. I mean, you can preach your heart out, do as many visitations as you can.. at the end of the day.. it's really not by might nor by power but by the Holy Spirit..

well.. i went back to the basics.. fasted and prayed.. prayed and fasted.. within less than 6 months the group multiplied..

Basics are boring.. but basics are fundamental.. but like what pst phil said "whatever you feed on grows, whatever you starve dies"
