Marutama Ramen

Hubby had been boasting about how good the ramen at Marutama is, so we decided to have dinner there recently.

The place looks pretty authentic. Simply-furnished and feels cosy.

I had a look at the menu and was surprised to see that they only offer 4 different types of ramen!!? And a sparse selection of side dishes. They should be very confident about their ramen to be able to live with such a small menu.

My ramen. Looks good. Just like how the restaurant looked – Authentic and simple.

I have to say it really tasted pretty good. The greenish stuffs you see on the right are seaweed that was very chewy and yummy. They’re somewhat different from the usual black seaweed served in other restaurants. The taste is more subdued and I actually prefer it over the normal seaweed. If you are a fan of watery tamago, you’ve got to add-on an egg to your ramen. They are really very good at cooking their eggs. It takes special skill to be able to produce eggs with solid exterior and runny interior!

The noodles were springy and the soup base was sweet and delicious. The taste actually resembled that of wanton mee! One piece of char siew comes served with your ramen, and it’s a delicious piece of meat with chewy fats! Tasted not bad, I say!

We also ordered their steamed gyoza. They are served dipped in vinegar & chilli oil. Yummy.
