Melben Seafood Restaurant

Finally visited the famous Melben Seafood Restaurant at Toa Payoh.

Thank God we made a reservation, because by 630pm, there was already a queue for the tables!

The interesting thing about their menu is that no prices are listed on it! We ordered by faith that we have enough money to pay, anyway. =P

That’s the birthday girl there. We were there to celebrate her birthday. =)

Their signature crab dish – Golden Sand Crabs. A little creamy with cereals sprinkled on.

Fried mantou to go with the crabs

Chilli Crabs. So-so. I preferred the Golden Sand version.

IMG_9016

Deep fried fish. Fried to perfection, but this was a very skinny fish – Couldn’t find much meat!

Mixed mushrooms with vegetables

Yam scallops. The yam was very yummy but the scallops were tasteless. This is definitely not cheap – $4 each! =X

Herbal chicken. Can’t go wrong with herbal chicken usually. Tastes pretty good.

My favourite dish of the night: Wasabi prawns. Big juicy prawns fried with a hint of wasabi and mango. Yums.

Melben Seafood is seriously overrated. I didn’t think the food was fantastic, and for the price we paid, I expected the food to be much better actually. Nonetheless, it was a good relaxing time of fellowship with dear friends!
