Rainy Seasons

This is the rainy season.

Dear Dear has been vastly disappointed many times because we planned to go sun tanning at sentosa, and each time the rain poured so heavily that we could not even get out of the house, much less enjoy any sun. Or the sun may be shining brightly for about 10 minutes, just enough to make us all excited to get dressed & leave the house, only to be faced with a dark sky the moment we stepped out.

That day, Dear made a casual remark that when it rains, we all tend to be energyless & don't feel like doing anything at all. This is true, because when it rains and there's no sun, we all automatically start moving 500 times slower, and we seem to go into hibernation mood. Everything slows down around us and staying indoors seem to be the only way to stay comfortable. Wet socks, shoes & trousers trunks can really irritate sometimes.

The sun gives us warmth, hope & joy. And it is during this rainy season that I really appreciate the sun. Though I will still not voluntarily bask myself under the sun in a desperate move to protect my skin, yet seeing so little of the sun nowadays makes me realise how important the sun is, though I usually don't pay much attention to it. Most of the time, the sun will only get into my conversations when I am complaining about how hot the weather is.

The sun is a symbol of hope & direction. When the sun is still out, there are so many things we can do. When the sun is still out, we know where exactly to turn to. Everything becomes clear and brightly lit. Everyone is full of energy & vitality. Everywhere is bursting with activity. The sun makes one cheerful. The sun makes one happy. Why? I ask myself. Why?

I have a theory of my own. When the sun is out, we can go anywhere we want and do anything we want. Because we can see where we are heading. We have no obstacles infront of us. We don't have to bring an umbrella just to get across to the other street. Freedom is almost overflowing. No restrictions. No hurdles.

This is the season for giving all we have - whatever is inside of us~ talents, visions, dreams, abilities, anointing~ because this is the time when we see where we are going. If we want to do anything at all, we got to take the opportunity of a sunny season to do whatever we want to do. Suntanning? Rollerblading? Swimming? Just do it now! Don't say wait for a better timing. Don't say maybe i'll do it later. Because we never know when the rain will come.

When the rain comes, what happens? Do we drop everything and just sit & wait for the sun to come out again? No! The rainy season is a good time to soak in all the living water and wait in the presence of God, getting ourselves revitalised once again in Him, drawing strength and anointing. During the rainy season, we may not be able to 'choong' out and do great & earth-shaking things, but we can prepare ourselves for the things we are going to do when the sun comes out again. Take this time to rest and reflect. Take this time to thank God. Take this time to gear up ourselves.

Some people like the rainy seasons. Some people like the sunny seasons. Yet, in our life, we need to have both. So that we can all grow from glory to glory. Don't allow ourselves to stay too long in any one of these seasons spiritually though. There is a time to work. There is a time to rest.
