Comfort Food – Hakka Abacus Beads
Have you tried this dish before?
This is actually a famous Hakka dish known as Abacus Beads. My mum-in-law brought back a tupperware container of it from JB because my cousin cooked it. This is probably my favorite Hakka dish!
The abacus beads are yam and after a tedious process of steaming, softening, pressing and molding, they are fried with shredded dried bean curd, black fungus, dried shrimps and mushrooms etc. Tastes super good, and definitely my idea of comfort food, especially on a rainy day. =)
